CIPHER.

Words become numbers. Then what?

We made marks. The marks became letters. The letters could also be numbers. Then people started noticing what happened when they counted.

Sometimes the number was put there. Sometimes it was found there. Sometimes we only found it because we went looking. And sometimes it was just wrong.

CIPHER is a museum of that habit. Not fortune. Not a fate script. The number is hard. The meaning is open. A miss is the method.

Three alphabets. Three histories. Original language first.

Isis belongs to Egypt. The spelling we count is Greek: Iota, Sigma, Iota, Sigma. Four hundred and twenty. Not Egyptian gematria.

Enheduanna signed her name more than four thousand years ago. Then a modern English spelling reduced to forty-two. History first. Then the cipher.

Ithaca is return before arithmetic. English forty-two and twenty-four. The Greek name refuses both.

Six centuries before Locke, Ibn Sina asked whether a soul knows itself without a body. The flying man is that thought. The Latin name Avicenna is sixty-nine in English ordinal. The closer spelling, Ibn Sina, is sixty-eight. A miss.

John Locke wrote on consciousness in sixteen ninety. Then his English name, reverse reduction, forty-two. Consciousness lives next door. CIPHER counted the name. It did not walk the mind.

Douglas Adams typed forty-two because it would do. Designed. He gives permission to laugh. He does not give permission to skip the method.

Question, reverse reduction, is forty-two. Each forty-two is an invitation to ask a better question. The house name, Cipher, does not lock. That is the method working.
